Bio

Morton Taubman manages HTFL’s Washington, D.C. office. His practice focuses on corporate finance, corporate governance, real estate, federal income tax law, government contracting, and executive counseling in H.R. matters. Mr. Taubman represents corporations, including private and public reporting companies, corporate executives, and boards of directors. He advises these clients as to their responsibilities within the corporate environment to assure their best practices on an on-going basis. Mr. Taubman also provides counsel to businesses seeking capital expansion, companies doing business with the federal and international governments, and international companies facing the challenges of doing business in foreign countries.

Mr. Taubman has counseled the State of Israel, People’s Republic of China, Republic of Namibia, and Republic of Nauru. Mr. Taubman has assisted these countries with various national and international business situations, including, but not limited to developing strategies for the exploitation of military proprietary hardware and software for commercial use, assisting with the creation of a corporate law infrastructure necessary to attract and enable international manufacturing technology joint ventures, and developing a recognition standard for international patents, trademarks and other intellectual properties. Mr. Taubman counsels corporations going public, raising private equity and negotiating institutional financing. He also assists major corporations with the resolution of complicated federal income tax matters including litigating such cases before the U.S. Tax Court.

As a former partner of an international accounting firm, Mr. Taubman is able to provide business advice to companies with a clear understanding of how such advice will be reflected on their financial statements. Mr. Taubman also possesses a Top Secret security clearance which allows him advise his corporate clients negotiating sensitive government contracts.

Prior to joining HTFL, Mr. Taubman was a partner in a national law firm and the partner in charge of the firm’s commercial practice. Prior to practicing law, Mr. Taubman was the partner in charge of the Washington, D.C. office of a major international accounting firm. Mr. Taubman also taught at the Law Center of Georgetown University School of Law and The George Washington University School of Law, where he was an adjunct law professor for over 15 years. During that time, Mr. Taubman developed a course teaching lawyers their responsibilities in representing public reporting companies.
